Russia’s President Vladimir Putin visited the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday before departing for Saudi Arabia in a quick one-day trip to the two Gulf nations, as he faces growing international isolation over the war on Ukraine.

Putin's plane was escorted by Su-35S fighter jets throughout his trip.

During his visit to the UAE, Putin met with Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where they discussed the latest developments on the international and regional scenes, including the Hamas-Israel war.

According to the official Emirates news agency, WAM, the two leaders agreed on the need to reach a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the protection of civilians and the unimpeded flow of aid into the enclave. They also stressed the importance of achieving comprehensive peace in the region based on the two-state solution.
