Shin Bet chief calls on UN to side with Israel in 'war between good and evil'

In a letter to the UN secretary-general, the head of Israel's domestic security agency called on the international community to support efforts to end Hamas' rule of the Gaza Strip and recognize the crimes committed against Israelis, especially women.

TEL AVIV — Reflecting profound frustration with widespread international criticism of its military campaign to topple Hamas, Israel’s top counterterrorism official called on UN leader Antonio Guterres to side with Israel in the “war between good and evil.”

“We are determined to accomplish our mission. Those who want the world to be a safer place should not try to stop us,” wrote Ronen Bar, head of Israel’s domestic Shin Bet security agency, in his Nov. 6 letter obtained by Al-Monitor.

“We have hard evidence proving that the crimes against humanity, brutally committed on Oct. 7, were a part of the Hamas operational plan. Thousands of Hamas terrorists did as they were instructed by their leaders: They raped our daughters, beheaded our babies and burned our houses with entire families inside. They tortured mothers in front of their children, and children in front of their mothers,” Bar wrote.

No 'moral equivalence'
