Calling him 'butcher of Gaza,' Turkey's Erdogan unloads on Netanyahu

ANKARA — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “the butcher of Gaza” Wednesday.

“Netanyahu, who committed one of the greatest atrocities of the last century in Gaza, has already gone down in history as the butcher of Gaza. This black mark is not only on him but also on everyone who supported him unequivocally,” he said in an address to members of his ruling party at the Turkish Parliament in Ankara.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, at least 14,800 people have been killed in the Palestinian enclave in the war that started after the militant group’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel. Roughly 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 individuals were taken hostage in Hamas' attack.

“Netanyahu, who is cornered in the eyes of the Israeli public, should be prevented from shedding more blood in order to save his political career,” he went on.
